College Council plays an important role in the governance of each school and therefore needs to be clear about the functions of governance and its own role and responsibilities, and those of others, and to behave in ways that are consistent with those roles. In the case of non-profit organisations such as ESF, governance relates to consistent management, cohesive policies, guidance, processes and powers of decision for a given area of responsibility.

ESF also recognise the importance of sustainability, digital transformation, and diversity and inclusion as essential components of good governance.

The 2004 UK Independent Commission for Good Governance developed six principles of Good Governance:
- focusing on the organisation’s purpose and outcomes;
- performing effectively in clearly defined functions and roles;
- taking informed, transparent decisions and managing risk;
- promoting values for the whole organisation and demonstrating the values of good governance through behaviour;
- developing the capacity and capability of the governing body to be effective; and
- engaging stakeholders and making accountability real.
Renaissance College Council
The Council serves as the Board of Directors and ensures accountability of our daily operations and that we meet the requirements of the law, regulations, standards and community expectations of probity.
